Hand building
is a technique in which ceramic objects are made by hand without using a potter's wheel. This technique uses different methods, such as:
Pincé: This involves pressing and shaping clay with the fingers to create a shape.
Slabs: The clay is rolled out into slabs which are then bonded together to form an object.
Colombin: This involves making long coils of clay, which are stacked on top of each other and joined together to form a bowl or other object.
This method offers a lot of creative freedom and allows you to create unique and organic shapes. Hand building is often used for both utilitarian and artistic ceramics.
